Day 3: Isle of Skye

The third day of our trip was a beautiful day and the weather was absolutely perfect. We headed out for Skye, with me taking pictures as we drove.

We stopped first at the Fairy Pools and ate lunch at the picnic tables next to the trail head. The view was breathtaking.

After a meal of Fish and Chips in Lochcarron, Joey wanted to drive just a bit past our house and see some ruins that he saw pointed out on a sign.

James wanted to take a picture of this sign, which warned that the road comes to an end. The boys thought it was hilarious! 

Isle of Skye: Day 1 and 2

When we realized that our time in Scotland was coming to a close, we knew we wanted to see a little more of this lovely country. We decided to leave on a Thursday morning and spend a long weekend seeing the Isle of Skye. I took A LOT of pictures and we loved the sweet time together taking in the beauty of God's creation. It truly was the most beautiful place we have ever been and definitely deserves a spot on your travel bucket list.

We didn't stay on the Isle of Skye, as our trip was last minute and there weren't lots of options. Fortunately, we found a wonderful Air Bnb house (https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/7676447) just a few towns over. It was perfect for us and a great home base for our trip. We did a little exploring after we arrived and enjoyed the scenery.

On our first day actually going to the island, the mist was heavy and low. It was the quintessential Scottish day. The vast landscape was hidden from us, as it was cloaked in this thick blanket of fog. It was only in the afternoon and on our second day that we really got a good picture of the Isle of Skye's beauty.

We drove up to the Fairy Glen for a picnic and some time exploring. The boys reached out their windows to touch a cloud as the fog enveloped our car.

Fairy Glen is filled with lush, rolling hills and lots of grazing sheep.

After Fairly Glen, we drove towards Coral Beach. Isle of Skye requires a lot of driving, as it takes a good amount of time to get from one destination to the next. Thankfully, it's hard to mind a drive when there is so much beautiful scenery to take in.

Our explorers were a little tired and cold from our windy walks and decided they could push through with the help of some hot chocolate. Lucky for them, the one open place we found only had hot chocolate and deluxe hot chocolate. Both options were large and included whipped cream and sprinkles. As our Grandaddy would say, they were pretty proud of that hot chocolate judging by the price ;).
